Inspiration, Intuition and Action - Wisdom for Meno Moms

Greetings beautiful Meno Moms!

Thank you so much for being here!! I missed my March post but here I am in early April writing to you and hoping you are all having a wonderful start to the Spring.

The title of this post came to me as I was in bed thinking about the different experiences I had during the winter. One of the practices that I have been cultivating for many years now, on and off, but more intentionally for the past couple of years, is the practice of Qi Gong. For those of you who haven't heard of Qi Gong, here's a definition according to Qi Gong Master Lee Holden:

“Qi” means “life-force energy.” Everything that takes place within the body is a reflection of this mysterious energy. Your thoughts, feelings, and physical experiences are all manifestations of Qi within you.

“Gong” means “to work with.” Therefore, Qi Gong means “to work with life-force energy.”

In Qi Gong, working with life-force energy often focuses on letting go of stress, cultivating joy, and boosting physical vitality and health. Lee Holden.

I have found this practice to be very helpful for me during this journey of my Menopause. It is really important to understand how our bodies are going through so many challenges in Menopause and Qi Gong has helped me understand better what my physical and emotional needs are.

Not only do I follow the teachings of Master Lee Holden online, but also I take a weekly Qi Gong class at the nearest Recreation Center during the winter months. The last part of the class is dedicated to a movement focusing on the different cardinal points (North, East, South and West) and performing movements to intentionally reflect on each of the seasons and what they bring into our lives. I could go more in depth into the whole practice but I will just like to explain the reason why I mentioned this part of the practice. At the very end of the movement at each of the cardinal points, we have a flow movement at the same time as we say the words "Intuition" and "Action" and then as we continue with the flow we will say "Bring together into our hearts". This is only a part of the practice and I chose to blog about it because I find these two words, “Intuition and Action”, to be really powerful at this moment in my life.

When I started experiencing the worst symptoms of Perimenopause I was completely lost and I felt really lonely.  I felt very scared not knowing or understanding what was happening with me and it was hard to tap into my Intuition in order to be able to take Action since my whole body was in so much stress trying to figure out what to do so I could start to feel better. Once I understood that I was going through Perimenopause and I started getting professional support, I allowed my Intuition to guide me in order to find the right people and resources that I needed and then I was able to take small steps into Action. What I know now is that the sooner we start learning about the different stages of women’s lives and how each stage brings its joys and challenges, the better we can equip ourselves to navigate those stages.

I invite you to take Action, be curious and to find Inspiration in the experiences of other women that have gone through Menopause. Do your own research and find the help you need because it’s very hard to try and go alone through these big changes. If you have a partner, talk to him and share how you’re feeling. During Menopause, due to the fact that our levels of Estrogen fall so dramatically, all the systems in our bodies are affected and we may feel anxious, experience fatigue, if our sleep is disturbed, we may not feel like engaging with our partners at different levels, and all these factors can seriously affect our marriages. I feel that communicating with my husband and telling him exactly how I’m feeling, as well as sharing information about Menopause, has strengthened our relationship. I have also talked to my teenage daughter about Menopause and she has been very supportive as well. It’s important for your children to know that you are going through these changes so they can understand that you may need more rest or that some days you may really need to take it easier so try and have the conversation whenever you find it to be appropriate.

When I decided to write this Blog I had lots of ideas and I wasn't sure how I was going to start or even if anyone would be interested in what I was writing about. I have found Inspiration by reading other women's Blogs, listening to other women's podcasts or just by having conversations with other women who may be going through Perimenopause or are already in Menopause. The main purpose of my Blog is therapeutic. I feel like this is one of my outlets to express how I feel and what I'm going through so if you find Inspiration from my Blog, tap into your Intuition and make sure you start taking Action to live a better life while navigating this transition through Menopause.

I would love to hear your comments or suggestions in the sections below!

With much Love,

Adriana
